Virtual Graph Paper

I am working on a very simple document with only 6 solid black shapes locked to an isometric grid. I deleted all unused shapes. When I try to select any of the 6 shapes on the screen VGP immediately starts saving, and I can't select anything. How can I tell the VGP not to save so often so that I can do my work? Is there a way to increase the app's memory in my mac? I purchased the desktop version thinking that would solve the issue but it didn't. There is plenty of memory available in my mac laptop. I'm not running any other programs, other than going online to ask this question. I restarted my mac and the issue persists. Please advise. Thanks!

Generally speaking, the fact that the app is saving shouldn't prevent you from continuing your work.
